Frequently Asked Questions

Plastic bags are not a problem (basic garbage bags, ziplocks, etc.)

Placing things into garbage bags is often a first step when dealing with an infestation.  ThermalStrike allows you to drop the entire bag into the Ranger, set the timer, and heat treat all times inside.

The Ranger is perfectly safe all types of fabrics – including wool, leather, silk, cotton, etc. The temperatures inside the Ranger are similar to a car on a hot summer day or a commercial dryer. The heat, of course, is being uniformly delivered on all sides and maintained for several hours to ensure everything is treated.

Yes. Having worked in the suitcase industry, I can tell you that most suitcases are going to made of a ABS (which softens around 220F) and have graphics that are printed on a Poly-carbonate film which adds to the durability and softens at 311F. Higher end suitcase constructed of carbon fiber and other high end polymers are even more resistant.

Sneaker and shoes with cloth uppers have no issues what-so-ever.

Some synthetic or leather uppers which are ‘squished’ or deformed in the luggage before treatment may hold the shape after treatment – although the material itself is not damaged. When this happens, the shoes can be re-shaped by either wearing the shoes, or pressing material into the shoe and letting them sit for a while.

ThermalStrike Ranger is a great choice for traveling as it is compact and super durable. Not all travel adapters and converters are made the same, however, so we’d recommend talking with our customer support. ThermalStrike also produces a 220V version of the Ranger with European safety certification, but it’s not available on the US Amazon site.

Yes, operation in a garage is fine. The Ranger should be clear of puddles or standing water. For best use during cold weather (below 50F), a board should be placed under the unit rather than directly on the large cold concrete slab.

Great Question – The Ranger is very insulated so the outer surface doesn’t exceed around 85F. So, in short, there is no chance that the sprinkler system will activate. It won’t even heat the room (unlike blower systems)

We understand your concern and want to assure you the product will be delivered discretely. Most of the time, the product will ship directly from Amazon Warehouses and have Amazon branded packaging. If the product ships directly from the manufacturer (ThermalStrike) then it is shipped from Colorado completely unbranded packaging.
